Ad-Vance Magnetics, Inc. was founded by Richard Vance, James Loebig, and Francis Jones on November 1, 1971, in Rochester, Indiana. It began as a custom sheet metal fabrication company specializing in the shielding of critical electronic equipment, and it continues to provide those highly specialized services to this day, delivering products to customers such as the U.S. Department of Energy, the U.S. Department of Defense and their contractors, medical equipment companies, universities, and research organizations.

Since the company’s early days, our products have evolved from the CRT displays of the early PC days, to supporting Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) machines, cockpit navigation systems for military and commercial applications, silicon wafer equipment, missile guidance systems, the next generation quantum computers, high energy particle physics to uncover the beginning of our world, and extending beyond it for the Mar’s Perseverance Rover and on the Space Shuttle for the Artemis missions, the next manned moon mission and next giant leap, sending the first astronauts to Mars.

Throughout the years, Ad-Vance Magnetics has had the wherewithal to reinvest into newer technologies that have allowed the company to simultaneously innovate and become more efficient. And while fabrication continues to be a very manual process, strategic investments in laser cutting and other niche areas support the work of highly skilled craftsmen to convert a laser cut flat pattern of a high nickel alloy material through the use of various fabrication processes such as bending, rolling, and welding into a magnetic shield product that fully meets customer specifications and exceeds expectations.
